Temporary Galleries - British Museum - Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam

Hajj was the fifth exhibition that DHA Designs were commissioned to light within the British Museum's Round Reading Room. Working with the Museum's in-house design team, this challenging exhibition provided a fascinating insight into one of the pillars of Islam. The lighting had to reflect the religious sensitivity of the subject.

The exhibition lighting was entirely done using existing stock, adapting the setworks to include concealed lighting details, lighting both fragile texts and tapestries, and specially commissioned modern artworks. It received great critical acclaim including a 5-star review in The Guardian newspaper, and significantly exceeded the museum’s visitor number expectation.
